Maria is the best thing that has happened to my business. She has helped me more than double my income in the last 12 months. I believe that what makes her business coaching so successful is that she really cares and wants to see you succeed.
I had a vision of where I wanted to be in the future. I knew I wanted to have a very successful business generating a considerable income and have more time to spend with family but had no idea how to. I had all these ideas but no idea where to start and consequently I wasn’t really achieving anything.
This is where Maria was invaluable. She helped me materialise all those ideas and strategies and organise them in a manner that made them achievable. We set goals and action plans on how to achieve them. In some cases, with her extensive business experience and qualifications she also helped me come up with more effective business strategies.
What Maria also does well is makes me accountable. I would have these targets or action plans to achieve and she would follow up to confirm that I had. I really do feel bad if I don’t because it’s not just me that I’m letting down, I feel that I am letting her down also. Consequently I get things done and I achieve my goals. What a great feeling it is when you do. It makes you want to get on to the next stage and achieve the next goal.
The biggest lesson I learnt was not to look at myself as a Mortgage Broker but as a business owner. For me thinking of myself as a Mortgage Broker I had the mentality that I needed to do all the work. That I had no choice but to be stuck behind a desk and computer dealing with banks all day long. It was like I was a bank employee. As a business owner I could immediately see that this didn’t help me grow my business. I needed to spend the time networking or speaking to existing and potential clients and referral sources. This is where the money is! You tell me which time is better spent; playing a game of golf with valued referral sources to strengthen your relationships or sitting on hold to banks for half a day to get updates on the progress of loan applications?
Maria showed me how to achieve this through better time management, utilisation of technology and researching the benefits of additional man power eg employees. My concern with some of these strategies was the cost. These concerns quickly diminished once I saw the returns and value I was getting.
To be successful in life, not just at your job or business you need to work smarter, not harder. Maria is the person that taught me this and has helped me achieve my success to date. I have much more to achieve and will continue to use Maria in my quest. Look at the top sportsman in the world. They may be number 1 in their sport but they all still have coaches to keep them there and improve.
